Big Machine label head Scott Borchetta shot down rumors of an October album release for Taylor Swift simply, and swiftly.
Borchetta serves as the President, CEO and all around “big boss” of the Big Machine Label Group and when asked to comment on the rumors this past Tuesday (Aug. 9) he replied with a short, “NOPE,” via Twitter.
The singer has reportedly been taking a break from music since wrapping up her 1989 World Tour late in 2015.
While Swift has been more in the press for her split from Calvin Harris rather than her music as of late, it was recently revealed that she co-wrote his hit with Rihanna, “This Is What You Came For.”
Gossip site TMZ first reported that the collaboration between the two began with Swift at a piano and recording a demo with her iPhone. Harris reported “loved it” when she sent the song to him and the two then recorded it in a studio using Swift’s vocals and Harris’s beats. Swift’s name was then put under a pseudonym so that her efforts would not distract from the music.
Harris himself confirmed the collaboration via Twitter, but took offense that Swift had exposed her work on the song following their break-up. He wrote that it was “hurtful” that Swift and her team were trying to make him look less than and further said he believed that the singer was trying to “tear him down.” He stated that she should focus on her new relationship with actor Tom Hiddleston if she were truly happy with it.
