Clubbing in London has struggled lately and the latest news regarding one of its dance music stalwarts, Fabric, is not encouraging. The club will close its doors indefinitely as the local authorities review its permit following the deaths of two individuals who were at the club.
The club shuttered its doors over the weekend to comply with the authorities, but now they will have to close down indefinitely since their license has been suspended.
Situated in Farrington, central London, the club is under fire from the police.
The Islington Council says that the police applied for an interim suspension of the club's license.
"Fabric agreed not to contest this application, and a licensing sub-committee has suspended Fabric's license, " says the council via the BBC. "This will be followed by a review of Fabric's license within 28 days."
The officers explained why they felt it was necessary to shut the club down pending a review.
"Officers felt the need to act due to concerns about the safety of those attending the club because of the supply of class A drugs in the venue and the recent deaths of two young men linked to the club."
According to the BBC, the club will release a statement on the situation later this week.
This all comes after the deaths of two individuals at the club in the past nine weeks. Earlier this month, police say they were called to a local hospital after an 18-year-old became sick outside of the club at 8:20 am. He died shortly after.
On Saturday, June 25, another man became ill at the club and collapsed at 2:03 am. He died shortly thereafter at a hospital.
