The supergroup Prophets of Rage, which consists of members from the bands Cypress Hill, Rage Against the Machine and Public Enemy, has announced that its debut EP The Party's Over will come out later this month. Pre-orders for the upcoming 5-track EP will begin this week.
As confirmed by the band on its Twitter page, The Party's Over will officially be released on Aug. 26. Fans looking to pre-order the album may do so starting on Aug. 19. The EP will contain five songs including the band's debut single "Prophets of Rage" and "The Party's Over" as well as live versions of tracks "Killing in the Name," "Shut Em Down" and "No Sleep Til Cleveland," according to Loudwire.
The pre-order date for the EP coincides with the start of the Prophets of Rage's Make America Rage Again Tour, which will kick off at the EagleBank Arena in Fairfax, Virginia later this week. As noted by the band on its official website, the prices of the tickets for the upcoming event start at $20. Proceeds from the tour will be donated to a local charity focused on helping the homeless.
According to Rolling Stone, the Prophets of Rage was formed earlier this year and caught the attention of the general public when the group staged a protest performance in July in Cleveland near the Republican National Convention's venue.
According to guitarist Tom Morello, he and Rage Against the Machine bandmates Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk decided to form a group with Cypress Hill rappers Chuck D and B-Real and DJ Lord of Public Enemy to engage the public regarding today's social issues through their music.
"We've come back to remind everyone what raging against the machine really means," Morello told Rolling Stone. "It's a vice that's been missing too long in the national/international dialogue and it's back. What better place than here? What better time than now?"
