Carrie Underwood is joining the chorus of female voices in the music industry who are cheering on the women’s U.S. Gymnastics team. The country singer even took it upon herself to call out Madison Kocian for her work during the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. According to Twitter posts, the two are big fans of each other.
Kocian is an artistic gymnast who scored gold for the team event and silver for the uneven bars challenged. The U.S. team is being led this year by Simone Biles and beating out the competition.
According to Billboard, Underwood has been avidly watching the games in the Brazil like many others and is herself wildly successful, having won performance and video of the year awards at the CMTs this year.
The singer immediately jumped in after Kocian reached out on Twitter, writing, “I am so honored! Thank you! I am a fan of yours as well. You ladies are KILLING it! We are all so proud of you!!!”
Taylor Swift also reached out to the U.S. team, known as the #FinalFive on Twitter following their Olympic Gold win, writing, “Sending my biggest congratulations to Simone, Aly, Laurie, Gabby and Madison! YOU DID IT GIRLS!! #FinalFive.”
The team this year consists of Biles, Kocian, Aly Raisman, Gabby Douglas, and Laurie Hernandez, and the team scored their second consecutive gold medal on Tuesday (Aug. 9).
