Martin Garrix made his United States television debut last night with Bebe Rexha to perform his new single "In The Name of Love" on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Aided by The Roots, Garrix steps out from behind the familiar confines of his DJ booth and stands front and center strumming occasionally at a few strings on a guitar. Bebe Rexha is main attraction in a red top, jacket, pants and heels as she belts out the words to "In The Name Of Love." The vocals sound a bit different from those on the original track, but that is because it is clear that they have been treated on the production.
The original features heavily processed computerized sounds, but for the live show Garrix and The Roots manage to bring these to life. They elect for live instruments and keyboards to capture a sound that is remarkably similar to what is found on the original. The synths come out pretty close to what Garrix put together on "In The Name Of Love" and the addition of some electric guitars adds some extra grit to the live performance.
It is good to see someone like Bebe Rexha who has cut her teeth as a songwriter and featured artist on many big pop hits get her chance on the big late night stage.
Watch the performance below and be sure to check out the official video here, which also features the two artists sharing a little love of their own in a pool.
