Kanye West has a bone to pick with radio executives. The rapper is encouraging radio stations across the globe to start playing Frank Ocean's music. His plea written on Twitter is best summed up in his line "radio has to support amazing artists."
He also encourages the radio to "empower the artist and create a more inspired world." This is a good idea, but radio is also driven by listener numbers and charts. People tune into the radio to hear hits ad nauseam. The hype around Frank could garner some solid listener numbers, but it may not have the broad chart appeal that many other pop songs need for radio play.
He also points out that both he and Drake, who has his music played a lot of radio, listen to Frank, so why shouldn't radio listeners?
Frank Ocean just released his new album Blonde on Saturday, Aug. 20.
If anyone at radio really loves music ... Come together and pick your favorite Frank Ocean song and play it at least 10 times a day.

Me and Drake both listen to Frank. Radio has to support amazing artists.

Ask yourself Why did you love music in the first place and what can you do to add to the story. — KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) August 23, 2016
Power to the people. Power to the artist. Empower the artist and create a more inspired world.
