If you aren't in the know, Dr. John and his crazy theatrics are a worldwide phenomenon. And now, the New Orleans saint (yet, not a football player) will release a compilation of what he considers the most important tracks from Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong.
The disc is set for release on August 19, marking his debut on Concord Records. The album will feature 13 quintessential tracks pulled from various points in Armstrong's five-decade spanning career.
On the album, Dr. John teams up with slide-guitar virtuoso Bonnie Raitt as well as Ledisi, the McCrary Sisters, Anthony Hamilton, Shemekia Copeland and the Blind Boys of Alabama who contributed their voice to "What a Wonderful World" and "Wrap Your Troubles in Dreams."
According to Dr. John on Jam Bands, "He's the most famous guy that ever came out of my neighborhood."
"He became a legend all over, for his trumpet playin' and everything else, and he was the United States' ambassador to the world," he continued to recant.
