We're sure you've heard about a million renditions of the national anthem. Great vocal performances made some performances memorable while others come to mind for alternative reasons, like missing or incorrect lyrics.
Taking all of that into consideration, we've hand-picked the most notable national anthem performances.
1. Whitney Houston (1991) - The powerhouse known as Whitney Houston showed off her impressive high-octave vocals during her performance of the nation's anthem. The late singer hit each of the glory notes effortlessly in an unforgettable rendition.
2. Aaron Neville, Aretha Franklin & Dr. John (2006) - The look on the players' faces during this performance said it all. Famed New Orleans musicians Aaron Neville and Dr. John joined forces with Detroit soul queen Aretha Franklin for what had the potential to be one of the greatest national anthem performances. Unfortunately, things just didn't seem to go as smoothly as possible for the trio, which was accompanied by a gospel choir.
3. Michael Bolton (2003) - The lyrics to the "Star Spangled Banner" may come easy to some but that wasn't the case for Michael Bolton at a Red Sox vs. Yankees baseball game back in 2003. The crowd wasn't too pleased that he took a peek at the lyrics written on his palm. As if the echoing of every line wasn't enough.
4. Julia Dale (2013) - Sports fans were not expecting such a huge voice to come out of such a small body. 12-year-old Julia Dale stole the show before players hit the court for the NBA Finals and wowed everyone with her impressive vocal range.
5. Christina Aguilera (2011) - Everyone thought Christina Aguilera was going to totally kill her national anthem performance at the 2011 Super Bowl and she did just the opposite. She tweaked the words and then tried to recover with the final note.
