Calvin Harris: This Is What You Came For
Over a summery steel drum beat, Harris opens the track with his own sung verse to about having done it "my way." "Why wait to say, at least I did it my way," he starts. Then he lashes out at the person he is speaking to, saying, they "Lie awake, two faced." He then mimics some tweets and comments made in interviews about being confident in his actions, "But in my heart I understand / I made my move and it was all about you / Now I feel so far removed."
In the hook he repeats the line "You were the one thing in my way" to really drive home the point.
The breezy percussion, steel drums and cheery melody make this track much more uplifting than it really is, but he does add some strings to help drive him the melancholic mood of the track.
Harris sings on the track, which is something he used to do more frequently earlier in his career, but has taken a step back to work with other high profile vocalists such Rihanna, Ellie Goulding and Dizzee Rascal. He does still sing on tracks like "Feel So Close" and "Summer," which hit the radio globally.
Speaking to IHeartRadio, Calvin Harris said that this would probably be his last single of the year. He did something for Big Sean that may come out this year, but there isn't really an album on the horizon.
"Apart from that, that's it. 'One song at a time'-that's my new mantra," he said. "Try to make each song as good as it can possibly be. I'm not trying to do an album. I'm just trying to do good music."
