Even though her single "Problem" with Iggy Azalea is ruling near the top of the charts, Ariana Grande is ready to "Break Free" into a new single. After debuting her Zedd-featuring single last week, today (July 7), Grande premiered the official lyric video for "Break Free," and she pulls from one of the all-time classic sci-fi films, Star Wars.
Grande has been playing into a science fiction theme for "Break Free" since before the single even officially dropped. Her Twitter has been full of alien imagery lately, with starry emojis and lunar faces taking up much of her timeline. So, it's only right that for the powerhouse club anthem, she would take inspiration from the classic Star Wars opening sequence.
Like the original 1970s film, Grande's lyric video features a starry background and lyrics that soar from the bottom of the screen upwards.
It's a fun tribute to one of the most classic pieces of cinema, and it helps fans decipher with the often unintelligible Grande is singing about.

"Break Free" is the second single from Grande's sophomore album My Everything, which was initially led by "Problem."
Grande announced My Everything late last month, alongside the album's classically colored artwork and guest musicians. In addition to Zedd and Azalea, the new album will also feature Childish Gambino, Big Sean, The Weeknd and more.
My Everything will be released on Aug. 25, immediately following the MTV Video Music Awards, where Grande will be performing.
