Charli XCX returned to the Late Night with Seth Meyers stage last night to perform her recent single, "Boom Clap," which was written for the soundtrack to the romantic comedy The Fault In Our Stars. Charli previously performed on the show with Iggy Azalea for their history-making hit collaboration "Fancy."
Back by her all-female group of bandmates, she performed in a silk cami dress.
"Boom Clap" currently sits at No. 9 on iTunes and No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100.
"The scene that ['Boom Clap'] is in is an uplifting moment in the film," Charli told Billboard about her song. "And while the song itself is very euphoric and enthusiastic about romance... it's about wanting to fall in love, but there's this hint of sadness in that, which I like."
Charli has announced that her next album would not be synth-pop but rather "much more live ...it's inspired the Ramones, the Hives, Weezer." She revealed to Complex that she worked with Weezer's Rivers Cuomo as well as Vampire Weekend's Rostam Batmanglij on the upcoming effort.
No title or release date has been announced for the album, though the indie-pop star promised it would be coming out this year.
