Martin Garrix Tops 2016 DJ Mag Top 100 Poll Over Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Hardwell

DJ Mag has released its annual list of fan-voted top 100 DJs. Martin Garrix has claimed the top spot for 2016, making him the youngest to ever do so. He comes in ahead of last year's winners Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, two-time winner Hardwell at three, Armin van Buuren at four and Tiesto at five. The award was presented to him last night at a ceremony and show in Amsterdam.

Other notable names on the list include The Chainsmokers who climb to No. 18 after their ridiculous year, Marshmello at No. 28, with all of the type surrounding his career and Diplo getting in three times as himself at 23, 40 with Jack Ü and 44 as Major Lazer.

There are always a few suspicious individuals like Miss K8, Diego Miranda and DJ Chetas, but that will always be present on the list so long as there are financial benefits on the other side.

Many will now decry the list if they are not on it or not in the spot they thought they deserve or paid for, but it doesn't matter if you have a solid brand globally and the music to back it up. This poll does matter in Asia where social media and streaming numbers aren't accessible to promoters and fans (Galantis crushing the weibo game?), thus they use this list as a tool for bookings.
