The Amy Winehouse Foundation is teaming up with her label Island Records to launch a new cover contest for her seminal 2006 album Back To Black. It will allow fans to cover songs from the album like "Rehab," "Tears Dry," " Just Friends" and "Back To Black" with permission of the label for the first time ever. Proceeds from the contest will go to the foundation.
The contest is special in that not only are proceeds from the contest going to foundation, but also this will be the first time that the official Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi backing tracks are being released to the public.
The original instrumental backing tracks and lyric videos are being uploaded to the Amy Winehouse Vevo page, which will make the songs sound as authentic as they could. Each video on her page now has the links to download the backing track.
Ronson and Remi, who produced and helped write the album, will judge the entries for the contest.
A winner will have their performance recorded and filmed in a studio and premiered on the official Island Records YouTube channel.
