Taylor Swift, Adele Lead List Of Highest Paid Women in Music

Who run the world? Girls. When it comes to the top end of the music industry, there are some women who are raking in some serious cash. Forbes just compiled their top earners for their scoring period into 2016 and Taylor Swift unsurprisingly leads that list, followed by Adele and Madonna.

Taylor Swift tops the list with a whopping $170 million in revenue during the scoring period. This primarily comes from her massive 1989 World Tour that surpassed the Rolling Stones as the highest grossing tour ever.

Following Taylor Swift comes Adele with $80 million, who is unique on this list because the majority of her revenue comes from actual music sales. Her new album 25 went diamond already and has gone multi-platinum around the world. Her numbers will remain high or go even higher when her 25 Tour is calculated for next year.

Madonna slots in just behind Adele at three with $76.5 million, much of it from her Rebel Heart Tour. Rihanna is nipping at her tails with $75 million with tour money, record sales from Anti and some endorsement deals with the likes of Puma, Dior and Samsung.

Beyoncé earns $54 million for the number five slot.

Katy Perry, who hasn't done all that much in the past year or so, is still bringing in significant cash at number 6 with 41 million.
