Chance The Rapper has been active this election season, using his star-power to try and get people out to vote. Last night he led a large group of young voters on a parade through the streets of Chicago to a polling station.
Chance the Rapper and several other artists performed a concert at Petrillo Music Shell in Grant Park on Monday afternoon (Nov. 7). His nonprofit group Social Works sponsored the event. Its work is geared towards millennial voters that are a key demographic in this election, notably for Hillary Clinton.
After the concert, Chance led hundreds or potentially thousands through rush hour traffic in the Chicago business district to an early voting site.
A long line was already waiting to vote and it just became longer once his crowd of people joined them. Chance went in and voted along with the others in line to vote early.
This is not the only thing that Chance has done recently to encourage young people to go vote. He performed at the Jay Z and Beyoncé concert in Cleveland on Friday, Nov. 4 to encourage people to get out to vote in support of Hillary Clinton. He has been quite active in the community over the past several years on social and racial issues, raising money for the homeless and more.
