Consequence of Sound reports that alternative rock band The Breeders have announced a brief string of tour dates for September. This tour will be the Breeders' first since last year's world tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of the band's classic Last Splash LP. The tour begins on September 2nd in St. Louis and ends on September 18th in Los Angeles, where the band will be playing with Neutral Milk Hotel and former member Carrie Bradley.
This tour will give the Breeders a chance to test out some new material, as this announcement comes three months after singer/guitarist Kim Deal revealed in a Stereogum interview that the band is working on a new album, its first since 2008's Mountain Battles, and Deal's first album since leaving the Pixies last year. Of the new album, Deal said: "We're down in the basement recording and the songs are sounding good. And honestly, I don't know what else to do...I like to record and play songs. I don't think there's much of an industry for it these days, but that's just what I do, you know?"
