Leonard Cohen has died at the age of 82 years old. The news was confirmed by the music icon's label Sony Music Canada on the singer's Facebook. After word of the news spread on Thursday night, tributes to the "Hallelujah" icon came from all across the world of music by the likes of Q-Tip, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Justin Timberlake, and many more.
The legendary singer and songwriter is considered to be one of the greatest Canadian songwriters of his generation. He was born on Sept. 21, 1934 in Westmount, Quebec. He learned guitar as a teenager and formed the group Buckskin Boys. However he turned writing poetry as a young man, publishing several books in the early 1960s.
After a trip to New York City in 1966, his life turned dramatically towards music and became a noted songwriter and eventually singer for his own work. He has since written and released dozens of timeless works that will live on for years to come.
He is being remembered by many of his peers in the music world. Find a few of those celebrating and mourning Cohen below.
