Mary J Blige Reveals Her Marriage Breaking Point and Why She Filed for Divorce

Mary J. Blige recently opened up on why she chose to file divorce papers after being married for 12 years to Martin "Kendu" Isaacs.

After twelve years together the union between Bilge and Isaacs has sadly come to end. The "No More Drama" singer recently told Good Morning America how marriage began to unravel after she became just plain sick of it - leaving she and Issacs living in the "Thick of It."

According to Blige, she could no longer tolerate the disrespect from her husband/manager Isaacs, and ultimately reached her breaking point.

"The breaking point was when I kept asking over and over and over again for respect, to be respected and to be respected. And it just seems like I was beating a dead horse and it seems like I was talking to a wall or- I just wasn't getting it back," Blige explained to GMA. "If I can't get respect in the relationship then I have to move on to save myself.

Though Blige never revealed specifically what the disrespect was in detail that she encountered during her marriage but, prior reports suggested how Isaac's infidelity was the culprit, and even named Karrine Steffans as one of his longstanding mistresses.

The divorce proceedings have been difficult on Blige's entire family.

Though Blige seems to be "hanging in there," Issacs has since filed for temporary spousal support, requesting over $129 thousand per month be awarded him by the singer. Isaacs' daughter, Briana Latrice, agreed to the amount requested stating to ABC Radio, "I think that it's interesting... how people talk about my father like he never did anything lol. Like he's begging for money out of nowhere."

Briana pointed out how her father is entitled to the spousal support requested as he's been very much involved in Blige's career and success over the past 17 years.

Despite the current friction between Blige and Isaacs, her career and growing success haven't missed a beat. Her latest single "Thick of It," off the Strength Of A Woman album, has held its number one spot on the Billboard Adult R&B charts for more than five weeks.
