Pitbull: Greenlight
The new single features Stephen A. Clark on the hook, while Pitbull raps the verses.
There is some typical rambling from Pitbull, but he does hit on a few lines that remind you why Mr. Worldwide has been at the top of the game for so long. In the intro, Pitbull hits the listener with some facts, saying "The grass looks greener on the other side / Til you get to the other side" or in the bridge "Everyone wants what they can't have."
Speaking about those themes, Pitbull says to The Fader, "If you don't stand up for something, you'll fall for anything. That's what 'Can't Have' is all about - appreciation."
Ape Drums delivers possibly the most important part of a Mr. 305 song - the beat. Staying in his wheelhouse - dancehall, he keeps things in the Caribbean with a dancehall beat, while also adding in some pitched up vocal chops and some dance-pop synth stabs. It has all the makings of a radio single for Mr. WW, though just about every song he puts out becomes a hit.
"Can't Have" will appear on Pitbull's upcoming album Climate Change, slated for release sometime in 2017. It will have features from some familiar faces such as Jennifer Lopez and Enrique Iglesis, plus Stephen Marley and others.
