Kanye West is reportedly remaining in the hospital until next week. The rapper was hospitalized this past Monday (Nov. 21) for mental health issues.
TMZ is reporting that he is still in a “bad mental state” and that his hospital stay is “far from over.”
The gossip site wrote, “Our sources say as of Wednesday morning it appeared he would stay at UCLA Medical Center until at least week’s end. We’re told some members of Kanye’s family wanted him home for Thanksgiving and felt it would do him good, but as of yesterday it looked improbable."
Various celebrities, including Lady Gaga, Pusha T, John Legend and Chance The Rapper have sent their support to The Life of Pablo rapper, while he remains hospitalized.
Chance even sent a prayer to his “big brother” Kanye on BBC 1Xtra, saying, “I want to extend a special prayer to my big brother Kanye West. I know there’s a lot of weird folks out there but you already know that I’m a hundred grand. I want to just extend this prayer and this love from all the way in Britain. We might come home early to see this. Happy Thanksgiving.”
A Billboard source reported that West was brought in “due to exhaustion and sleep deprivation.”
An original TMZ report offered more details on what lead to the hospitalization, and according to the site West’s personal physician had called 911 and claimed that the rapper was suffering from “temporary psychosis due to sleep deprivation and dehydration.”
His doctor, Michael Farzam, claimed that West was non-violent, but could become so if the police arrived. He told officers that he wanted Kanye on a 5150 psychiatric hold at the UCLA Medical Media Center. As a result of the hospitalization, West cancelled the remaining dates on his The Life of Pablo Tour.
