NAACP Image Award 2017 Nominations: Beyonce & Solange Face Off for Oustanding Female Artist

The Knowles sisters, Beyonce and Solange, will soon face off for the title of Outstanding Female Artist and three other categories at the 2017 annual 48th NAACP Image Awards airing live in February.

The nominees for the 48th NAACP Image Awards were released on Tuesday (Dec. 13) morning and big sister Beyonce received the most nominations with a total of 7, while little sister Solange pulled in a close second place with 5.

The Texas sisters share nominations in four different categories: Outstanding Female Artist; Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration for their singles "Freedom" featuring Kendrick Lamar and "Mad," featuring Lil Wayne; and Outstanding Music Video and Outstanding Album.

Beyonce's visual album Lemonade, not only received an Outstanding Album nod but, also garnered a spot under the Outstanding Variety (Series or Special) for its April 23 airing on HBO. The 35-year-old is also nominated for Entertainer Of The Year, a category shared with How To Get Away With Murder's Viola Davis, American Crime's Regina King, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Chance the Rapper.

The Lemonade singer doubles her chances of winning in her 7th category of Outstanding Song with two singles off the album. Both "Formation" and "Freedom" featuring Kendrick Lamar will compete agains Bruno Mars' "24K Magic;" Common's "Letter to the Free" and "Royalty" by Sounds of Blackness featuring the High School for Recording Arts.

Solange's lead single "Cranes In The Sky" off her 2016 release, A Seat At The Table, also garnered her very own, stand alone nomination without big sister "B" under Outstanding Song - Traditional.

Who will take home the wins? Tune in to watch live on February 11 at 9 p.m. on TV One.
