A severe kidney infection has sidelined the Pistol Annies singer and she's asking for fans prayers and understanding.
Ashley Monroe had a short 6-show tour planned for the early part of July. Just last weekend, she shared her excitement on her official Facebook, saying, "Got a big run up to VA, NY, NJ, MD & DE this next week w/ the band! I’d love to sing for you all!"
On the first day of the tour, that excitement turned to disappointment. The band arrived safely in Charlottesville, Virginia but Ashley wasn't feeling well at all. She went to see a doctor in town and was told that she should not perform. She cancelled the Charlottesville show and hoped that the rest she would get on the ride to New York City would be enough to get her back on her feet. Sadly, that wasn't the case and she was forced to cancel the entire tour or risk her own health.
Ashley posted a note to her fans on her website, saying,
My sweet fans,
I have to cancel the rest of the shows for this run because of a severe kidney infection. This is very serious and I’m heading back to Nashville to go to the hospital. Thank you for understanding and please keep me in your prayers. I’m so sorry for the disappointment this will cause, but if I don’t take care of this it could risk my life. I promise I will make it up to you all.
-Ashley
Hopefully, with rest and the right combination of antibiotics, Monroe will be well enough to go to Cincinnati on July 18th for her appearance at the Buckle Up Music Festival at Sawyer Point.
