Mila J Talks New Album And Deal With Motown, Says Little Sis Jhene Aiko Is Helping Bring 'Real' R&B Back [WATCH]

Keeping it all in the family.

Just in case you didn't know, Jhene Aiko isn't the only one on her family tree that is musically inclined. In fact, her big sis Mila J is gearing up for the release of her forthcoming album M.I.L.A (Made In Los Angeles).

Although her name may be new to some, Mila revealed to Vibe she has been in the industry since she was 5 or 6-years-old.

While Mila has had her fair share of industry ups and downs, from things simply just not working out to groups falling apart, the singer says she has used those experiences to make herself a better artist.

"I just took that time to regroup, reflect and kind of refresh and figure out who I was as a solo artist," Mila said.

Now that she has had time to clear the fog, Mila is ready to reintroduce herself to the music world under her new deal with Motown Records.

"Just the history of Motown, honestly, their roster...they are R&B," Mila said of her decision to sign with the label. "I mean like, The Jackson 5, Diana Ross, The Supremes, Marvin Gaye. I just feel like they're iconic, especially for R&B, and just the whole team there. Everyone believed in the project and it was just a certain vibe."

The Los Angeles native has recently gained notoriety for putting her own spin on popular tracks like Chris Brown's "Loyal" and Usher's "Good Kisser" but her single "Smoke, Drink, Break-Up" has been gaining traction as well.

The singer revealed that the tone for her forthcoming release is relationship based, similar to the single, and will feature guest spots by Trey Songz, Problem and B.O.B.

She also says the album was heavily influenced by 90's R&B.
