“Pharma Bro” Martin Shkreli has now leaked an unreleased Lil Wayne and Kendrick Lamar track. The former CEO of a pharmaceutical company has attracted Internet wrath over the past few years after he hiked the price of an important AIDS drug Daraprim by 5,556%.
If that didn’t make him a hated enough figure in the public eye, he was exposed as the buyer of Wu-Tang Clan’s double album Once Upon A Time In Shaolin back in 2015. He reportedly paid $2 million to purchase the album, but is unable to release it commercially for 88 years. Following the reports, Shkreli engaged in verbal battles with several members of the group, including Ghostface Killah.
NME reports that Shkreli had promised to leak previously unreleased Nirvana, Beatles, and Wu-Tang Clan music if Trump became president. He then ended up airing several songs from the Wu-Tang Clan record after the election. The former CEO also leaked a track from Wayne’s Carter V album this past December. After being approached by Wayne’s lawyers, he promised not to share any more material without permission.
But Shkreli did not make good on his word, and now the two tracks, reportedly called “Mona Lisa” and “The Life of Carter” are now available to the public.
Shkreli is so hated that back in September he was auctioning off the option to punch him in the face, and is often referred to as “the most hated man in the United States.” The pharma bro also offered Kanye West $10 million to purchase his The Life of Pablo album and not release it to the public. His plan to buy the album was revealed in a series of tweets that claimed the rapper delayed the release of his album because he was considering the proposition.
