The rare astronomical event will be coupled with a once in a lifetime performance of Bonnie Tyler as she sings her 1983 hit song "Total Eclipse of the Heart." The deal was sealed and aligned with Royal Caribbean's Total Eclipse Cruise same as the alignment of the sun, moon, and earth which will happen on August 21. Bonnie Tyler along with the pop-rock band DNCE will be the main act for the Oasis of the Seas show as the Total Eclipse Cruise goes on a week-long cruise.
The cruise ship will start its journey on August 20 from Orlando, Florida going to the Caribbean as it positions itself directly to the area of the total solar eclipse. Based on a report from TIME, Bonnie Tyler will be joining for just a few days of the Oasis of the Seas show and will leave from there to continue on her music tour. Her recent album "Rocks and Honey" was entirely recorded in Nashville while she was also busy on music tours around the world specifically in New Zealand, Eastern Europe, and South America.
"Total Eclipse of the Heart" is a hit song of the 80's written by Meatloaf's Jim Steinman for Bonnie Tyler's fifth album "Faster than the Speed of Night." New York Daily News reported how this song made a monumental hit for Tyler's career as the song reached number one in several countries and is the first Welsh singer to top the Billboard's Hot 100. Even up to this time, "Total Eclipse of the Heart" is a favorite tune on any occasions, from delicate competition pieces to simple karaoke song choices.
Bonnie Tyler will be singing the song at the same time the moon blocks the sun from the earth for about two minutes. Thus, the seven-minute song will be cut short just for that splitting moment. This rare occasion is the first of all first as it is the first total solar eclipse visible from coast-to-coast in America since June 8, 1918, and all over United States mainland since 1979.
