Neil Young recently announced that he and Crazy Horse would be pulling out of a show in Tel Aviv due to the violence ongoing between the Israeli military and Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. It must be a bummer to cancel a tour date due to events unforeseen when planning the tour. No one knows this better than Aerosmith, which either has really bad luck, or just happens to bring death and destruction with it wherever it goes. Things only seem to have gotten crazier for the band in the current decade, but check out the whole list of events that have messed with the classic rock band's schedule and decide for yourself if it's coincidence.

We probably don't have to explain what disaster occurred here. Plenty of bands and performers cancelled concerts because of the 9/11 attacks (including the second Billboard Latin Music Awards), but Aerosmith happened to be traveling on the East Coast when the attacks happened. The group was scheduled to perform in Virginia Beach on the day itself, but the band also nixed dates in nearby Camden, NJ and Columbia, MD in the following days.

Aerosmith booked seven dates in Japan, a nation that especially adores the Boston band. The problem: Japan had been struck by a tsunami in March. Sure, that was nearly eight months prior to the band's visit, but damaged nuclear reactors had left many parts of the country questionably irradiated. Guitarist Joe Perry that the band was nervous, packing geiger counters along for the ride, but the love the band always received in Japan discouraged it from cancellation. Good call guys.

Aerosmith was due to play a show in Jakarta, Indonesia when two potential terrorists were arrested for a planned bombing of the Myanmar embassy. This one's a little more confusing to us. The attackers were targeting Myanmar for its mistreatment of Muslim citizens and made no reference to planning strikes at either the arena nor the United States embassy. Indonesia is the world's most populous Islamic nation, so we imagine the concert would have been mostly Muslim fans as well, making this a big example of how the actions of a few bad eggs ruin it for everyone else.

Just more than a year after the Indonesia incident, Aerosmith cancelled a show in Istanbul after a mining disaster killed more than 300 people in the Turkish city of Soma. The state government declared a three day period of mourning and Aerosmith did the right thing by canceling its concert at the Istanbul Technical University Stadium accordingly. Folks in Turkey wouldn't have been ready to rock and hopefully the group can get on back.

Perhaps you're familiar with the recent struggles in Ukraine? Aerosmith was again deterred from performing due to the state of affairs in the host nation. As the Ukraine National Corporation of Entertainment bluntly stated: "It is impossible to produce this show in Ukraine while there is civil war." Yes, we can see that logic. Kiev is fairly far west in the nation, but the violence isn't isolated to the Southeast region of Crimea. Other mobs and pro-Russian goons make any night on the streets difficult in the capitol as well.
The moral: If you're going to see Aerosmith abroad, be prepared for the worst.
