Chrissy Teigen and John Legend finally made it to Tokyo after a flight that seemed to take forever. The supermodel tweeted their arrival and could not be happier to get off the plane that has been on air for eight hours.
On Tuesday afternoon, Teigen and Legend took the All Nippon Airways (ANA) flight from Los Angeles to Tokyo. What was supposed to be a four-hour flight turned into eight hours, because the plane had to make a U-turn four hours into the flight. Apparently, someone boarded the wrong plane. The pilot had to return to Los Angeles to let the passenger, who had a United ticket, get off their flight.
Of course, Teigen, as well as the rest of the other passengers, were not happy. The pregnant supermodel made her feelings known on social media. She live-tweeted the events and updated her fans about the status of their flight to nowhere. She kept her fans abreast of what happened.
Early Wednesday morning, the couple booked another plane bound for Tokyo after more hours of waiting in Los Angeles. Teigen prayed that she would not have to go through the same ordeal again as their original flight. Finally, after eight hours on air, the couple landed in Tokyo. The 32-year-old "Cravings" author announced their arrival on her Twitter account. She also revealed that she and Legend had to make changes to their initial plans in Tokyo because of the unexpected delay. They had to cancel their connecting flight to Nagoya and a three-hour car ride. Nevertheless, the delayed flight did not dampen the couple's happy mood. They are just thankful and happy to be in Tokyo where Teigen said she and Legend could "feel like young lovers again."
Following the incident, ANA has released a statement to explain what happened. Two brothers who were both going to Tokyo, but on different flights, ended up on ANA. They have very similar names and because of this, they were both allowed to board the same flight, when only one was booked for ANA. A law enforcement said the crew only discovered the extra person during the flight. The plane had to return to Los Angeles as part of the airline's security procedure.
"The cabin crew notified the pilot that one of the passengers boarded the incorrect flight, and the pilot in command made the decision to return to the originating airport," ANA said in a statement sent to CNN.
ANA has since apologized for the inconvenience it caused to Teigen and Legend, as well as to the other passengers. At that time the incident happened, it had 226 passengers aboard. The airline apologized that the passengers did not receive the best customer service, because of an "administrative mix-up."
