Chrissy Teigen and John Legend finally made it to Tokyo after a flight that seemed to take forever. The supermodel tweeted their arrival and could not be happier to get off the plane that has been on air for eight hours.
On Tuesday afternoon, Teigen and Legend took the All Nippon Airways (ANA) flight from Los Angeles to Tokyo. What was supposed to be a four-hour flight turned into eight hours, because the plane had to make a U-turn four hours into the flight. Apparently, someone boarded the wrong plane. The pilot had to return to Los Angeles to let the passenger, who had a United ticket, get off their flight.
Of course, Teigen, as well as the rest of the other passengers, were not happy. The pregnant supermodel made her feelings known on social media. She live-tweeted the events and updated her fans about the status of their flight to nowhere. She kept her fans abreast of what happened.
a flying first for me: 4 hours into an 11 hour flight and we are turning around because we have a passenger who isn’t supposed to be on this plane. Why...why do we all gotta go back, I do not know

This person is so lucky that we will all have to deplane. Imagine having to walk off alone. The shame! — christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) December 27, 2017
I don’t know why I’m not more upset about this. The pleasure I get out of the story is worth more to me than a direct flight to Tokyo

Why did we all get punished for this one person’s mistake? Why not just land in Tokyo and send the other person back? How is this the better idea, you ask? We all have the same questions. — christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) December 27, 2017
They keep saying the person had a United ticket. We are on ANA. So basically the boarding pass scanner is just a beedoop machine that makes beedoop noises that register to nowhere

We uhhhhh went ahead and cancelled our connecting flight to nagoya and 3 hour car ride for...obvious reasons...but are happy to stay here in Tokyo! We feel like young lovers again. Been a while since the ramen adventures of 2012! — christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) December 27, 2017
Early Wednesday morning, the couple booked another plane bound for Tokyo after more hours of waiting in Los Angeles. Teigen prayed that she would not have to go through the same ordeal again as their original flight. Finally, after eight hours on air, the couple landed in Tokyo. The 32-year-old "Cravings" author announced their arrival on her Twitter account. She also revealed that she and Legend had to make changes to their initial plans in Tokyo because of the unexpected delay. They had to cancel their connecting flight to Nagoya and a three-hour car ride. Nevertheless, the delayed flight did not dampen the couple's happy mood. They are just thankful and happy to be in Tokyo where Teigen said she and Legend could "feel like young lovers again."
Following the incident, ANA has released a statement to explain what happened. Two brothers who were both going to Tokyo, but on different flights, ended up on ANA. They have very similar names and because of this, they were both allowed to board the same flight, when only one was booked for ANA. A law enforcement said the crew only discovered the extra person during the flight. The plane had to return to Los Angeles as part of the airline's security procedure.
"The cabin crew notified the pilot that one of the passengers boarded the incorrect flight, and the pilot in command made the decision to return to the originating airport," ANA said in a statement sent to CNN.
ANA has since apologized for the inconvenience it caused to Teigen and Legend, as well as to the other passengers. At that time the incident happened, it had 226 passengers aboard. The airline apologized that the passengers did not receive the best customer service, because of an "administrative mix-up."
We apologize to all of our passengers on Flight 175; we failed to deliver the customer service we strive for. Thank you all for your comments and allowing us to connect, learn and serve you better. We welcome ongoing feedback to understand how we can work to make this right. — All Nippon Airways (@FlyANA_official) December 27, 2017
