Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers are set to release the follow-up to 2010's Mojo, their 13th studio album Hypnotic Eye, on July 29 via Reprise Records. Today, they shared another preview of the album with the track "Fault Lines."
The band has previously released the singles "American Plan B," "U Get Me High," and "Red River," but "Fault Lines" is arguably the best release thus far.
Petty sings about overcoming his past over a guitar-driven groove made complete by raucous harmonica, slick keyboard riffs and shimmering cymbal work.
"See those fault lines, they're laid out like land mines, it's hard to relax," before admitting, "I've got a few of my own fault lines running under my life."
Their first new studio album in four years, Hypnotic Eye will be available in multiple formats with an additional track featured on the vinyl edition.
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers will kick off their North American tour with Steve Winwood on August 3 in San Diego.
