The year 2017 gave some of the best TV shows like Game of Thrones, Netflix's Stranger Things, and The Defenders.
Then, of course, there are other shows worth talking about, not because they were remarkable but they were the worst. Below are five of the shows of 2017 that viewers need to avoid at all cost.
'Iron Fist'
Marvel fans were thrilled when they heard that Netflix was doing Iron Fist from showrunner Scott Buck to complete the story of The Defenders, namely Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage. However, they were greatly disappointed to see an unremarkable and lackluster performance from Finn Jones as the titular character.
He was better off playing Loras Tyrell in Game of Thrones. Not to mention that Jessica Henwick, who played his love interest, Colleen Wing, was a much better martial artist than he was. If the roles were reversed, she would have been a better option to play as the Iron Fist. Likewise, Rosario Dawson's Claire Temple was annoying in this show.
'Inhumans'
Buck screwed up in yet another Marvel TV show Inhumans. Following his exit from Iron Fist, Buck went to create Inhumans for ABC, which he received criticisms again. The TV show had poor ratings and did not impress viewers even though the first two episodes were screened on IMAX cinemas.
The characters were boring, the action sequences were badly directed, the plot was dumb, and the acting was stiff. The costumes choices were also awful. On the good side, the show treated its few viewers to some good shots of Hawaii and to the cuteness of the oversized CGI dog named Lockjaw.
'The Mist'
Spike TV tried and failed to create a remake of the 2007 film from director Frank Darabont. The TV show, based on Stephen King's novel of the same name, failed to deliver the suspense, gore, mystery, and horror that were dominant in the book and in the original film.
The first few episodes were intriguing enough and delivered a few chills, especially when the fog came out. However, the show easily became boring and frustrating while going into the next episodes. Understandably, Spike TV canceled The Mist after one season.
'Powerless'
Vanessa Hudgens' charms and Alan Tudyk's comedic chops did not do the show justice. The jokes were half-hearted and the premise poorly played out. The show was a waste of meta-comedy potential.
'24: Legacy'
Fox's attempt to make a Jack Bauer-less 24 revival was a failure. The show was merely a rehash of the unforgettable scenes, character arcs, and action sequences from Kiefer Sutherland's days as the lead character.
Now, the worst among the abovementioned TV shows is The Mist. The show lacked character development, the acting was terrible and it had confusing storylines. The series was frustrating because the characters would rather argue among themselves and whine, rather than agree on a better plan to survive.
