Justin Timberlake is coming out with new music.
On Tuesday, Jan. 2, the singer-actor released a teaser for his new album, Man of the Woods. The first single will be released on Friday, Jan. 5.
The 36-year-old made his music comeback announcement through a video posted on his VEVO YouTube channel. The short one-minute clip featured Timberlake and his wife, Jessica Biel, in different environments.
"This album is really inspired by my son, my wife, my family, but more so than any other album I've written, where I'm from," he explained in the video. "It's personal."
Hip hop/RnB artist and renowned music producer, Pharell Williams, also briefly appear in the video. Timberlake's son, Silas, who was born in 2015, had a small cameo.
Reports about a new album surfaced in December last year when the former NSYNC member and his team trademarked "Man of the Woods" and "Fresh Leaves" for use in music and merchandise.
Man of the Woods is Timberlake's first album in a long time. The still-untitled new song that is coming out on Friday is also the first new music he will release since "Can't Stop the Music" which debuted at number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 back in 2016.
Return To His Roots
In a previous interview, the singer revealed that his new album would be a return to who he was before the glitz and glamor of show business became his life.
"I think where I grew up in America has a lot of influence," he told the 97.1 AMP Radio's Morning Show more than a year ago. "Growing up in Tennessee - very central of the country - Memphis is known as the birthplace of rock 'n' roll, but also the home of the blues, but Nashville's right down the street so there's a lot of country music."
Return To Superbowl
The singer's calendar will be incredibly busy these coming months. Aside from an album launch, Timberlake is also set to headline this year's Super Bowl.
His performance in the sports event marks 14 years since his appearance alongside Janet Jackson during the halftime of Super Bowl XXXVIII. To recall, the show became controversial when a wardrobe malfunction exposed Jackson's right breast to millions of viewers in the United States and worldwide.
On his return on the stage of Super Bowl LII, Timberlake is expected to perform a few songs from his new album as well as some of his greatest hits. The event will take place on Feb. 4 at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
