James Blake premiered a brand new song last night on BBC Radio 1.
Jamie xx was filling in for regular host Benji B during the 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. slot when Blake joined him in the studio. The xx producer was playing his own track "Sleep Sound," when Blake arrived, saying, "I've just walked in on your playing your own song. It's quite sweet."
Once Blake left, Jamie xx played an untitled electronic track that Blake left behind, Gigwise reports. Elsewhere in the two-hour slot, he gave air time to tracks by Kate Tempest, Real Lies, John Talabot, DJ Rashad, and Gil Scott Heron.
Earlier this year, Blake confirmed that he had finished half of his third studio album, which he plans to release some time in 2015. He also revealed plans to collaborate with both Kanye West and Bon Iver's Justin Vernon.
The upcoming album follows-up Blake's Mercury Prize-winning second album, Overgrown, which he released last year. Blake is currently on tour in Europe with upcoming festival appearances at Jabberwocky, Paredes de Coura Festival, and Pitchfork Music Festival Paris, among others.
