Jane Fonda recently explained why she had a bandage over her lower lip. The actress said that she just had a cancerous growth in the area removed.
Jane Fonda Talks About Her Cancer Diagnosis
The 80-year-old actress said that she thought the surgery mark will heal in time for her interview, but it did not. As a result, she promoted the upcoming season of Grace and Frankie with a bandage on her lower lip.
"I just want to explain the bandage. I just had a cancer taken from my lip. I thought it was going to heal in time before I came before you, but it's fine. I just want to explain it. I don't normally go around like this," said Fonda.
Nothing To Worry About
Fonda also talked about her cancer diagnosis during her appearance in The Howard Stern Show on the same day. The veteran actress told the 64-year-old host that the world is not ending, and she is going to be fine. Fonda also said that her doctors already did a biopsy, and there is nothing to worry about.
Actress Covers Her Bandage
Prior to her interviews, Fonda shared a photo of herself with her Grace and Frankie co-star, Lily Tomlin, on her social media account. In the picture, Fonda is seen covering her lower lip with her right hand.
Breast Cancer Diagnosis
This is not the first time that Fonda was diagnosed with cancer. In 2010, the veteran actress suffered from breast cancer, and her diagnosis encouraged her to have a different outlook on life.
"It was a good test, because I always said I'm not afraid of dying. And I wasn't. I mean, I felt I've just joined a family of millions of women who have gone through this — and how interesting," said Fonda. She also acknowledged the fact that her journey was going to be interesting because she may or may not survive the illness. Years later, Fonda is still doing well.
The actress also released a statement in 2010, where she said that after her tumor was removed, doctors found out that her cancer was noninvasive. She was declared cancer-free thereafter.
Season 4 Premiere
Fonda currently stars in Netflix's Grace and Frankie as Grace. She and Frankie (Tomlin) became best friends after they found out that their husbands were in love with each other. The fourth season of the series will premiere on Friday, Jan. 19. Grace and Frankie first premiered on Netflix in May 8, 2015.
