Beyoncé fans are pretty hardcore, but is our nation's devotion to the most powerful woman in entertainment enough to get her into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame way before she's eligible? No, not quite, but the museum is still hosting an exhibit dedicated to the performer nonetheless. Although the exhibit doesn't seem to have a special title according to the RNRHOF's website, it will focus on the fashion of the Destiny's Child star.
Among the pieces that will be on display: The famous black leotard from her "Single Ladies" music video, a skirt and jacket from her 2013 Super Bowl appearance, her shorts and shoes from the "Crazy In Love" music video and a Givenchy gown worn by the star at the 2012 Met Gala. Unfortunately for the men touring the museum, Beyoncé herself won't be wearing them.
The exhibit is part of the museum's attempt to reach out to younger generations by highlighting more modern acts as, unfortunately, the name Jeff Beck just doesn't mean as much to the kids these days. The Hall of Fame is currently hosting an exhibit tiled "Right Here Right Now" that features memorabilia from Bruno Mars, The Black Keys, Lady Gaga and others.
"We felt that (Beyoncé) really needed to take her rightful place alongside Aretha Franklin and The Supremes and Janis Joplin," curator Meredith Rutledge-Borger said, perhaps overplaying her hand just a bit. "Rock and roll has an intergenerational appeal and we want to make sure we're hitting all the right notes and keeping up with what's happening today and what's legendary today."
Lady Gaga's fashion choices might make for a better art exhibit, but hey.
