SZA Blazes The Stage At The 2018 Grammy Awards With 'Broken Clocks'

SZA wowed the audience with her performance of "Broken Clocks" on Sunday night's Grammy Awards, putting her on the list of potential winners in next year's awards.

SZA, whose real name is Solána Imani Rowe, took to the stage wearing ripped jeans and distressed jersey as she belted out the lyrics from "Broken Clocks," one of the tracks in her critically acclaimed album Ctrl. The singer performed an emotional rendition of her song, which had the audience swaying and waving their hands in time with the music.

The choir and the backdrop of The Matrix scroll behind her completed a fiery performance worthy of another nomination in next year's Grammy Awards. With her hair flowing and hands moving about, SZA blazed through her performance with cheers and a round of applause from the New York crowd.

SZA had five nominations at the 2018 Grammy Awards. These include Best R&B Performance for "The Weekend," Best R&B Song for "Supermodel," Best Urban Contemporary Album for Ctrl, Best New Artist, and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for "Love Galore" featuring Travis Scott. Unfortunately, it was not a lucky night for the 27-year old from St. Louis, Missouri. SZA did not take home any trophy.

Regardless, SZA already made a name for herself in music ahead of the awards night at the Madison Square Garden. Her debut album Ctrl landed No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 200 and stayed on that spot for 23 weeks. It also soared to the No. 3 spot.

Critics called Ctrl as one of the best albums of 2017. Twitter also exploded with praises following the release of the singer's debut album. Also, other known artists like Khalid and Miguel liked "The Weekend," so much they put their own spin on it.

The singer and songwriter also caught the attention of former U.S. President Barack Obama. He included "Broken Clocks" as one of his favorite songs of 2017.

SZA is signed under RCA Records with other famous artists including Taylor Swift, Sia, Chris Brown, and Britney Spears. She is also under Top Dawg Entertainment with Kendrick Lamar, whom she worked with on the soundtrack for the Marvel film Black Panther. She collaborated with the Grammy-winning rapper on the song "All the Stars."

This was SZA's first Grammy Awards and to mark the memorable moment, she brought her mother and grandmother as her date.
