Kesha Performs ‘Praying’ At The Grammys, With Badass #MeToo Intro By Janelle Monáe

Kesha recently showed her support for the #MeToo movement by singing her song "Praying" at the 2018 Grammy Awards. The 30-year-old singer was joined by Camila Cabello, Cyndi Lauper, Andra Day, Julia Michaels, and more on stage.

Janelle Monáe introduced the San Fernando Valley native with a speech about the Time's Up campaign.

"Tonight, I am proud to stand in solidarity as not just an artist, but a young woman with my fellow sisters in this room who make up the music industry. We are also daughters, wives, mothers and human beings," said Monáe.

Following her emotional performance, Kesha took her thoughts to Twitter and thanked all the artists who sung with her at the awards show. She also thanked all her fans for supporting her through the years.

Other celebrities also gushed over Kesha's performance of "Praying" and said that it was very "powerful." Maria Shriver, Tove Lo, Karrueche Tran, and more praised Kesha for her beautiful number.

Kesha Files A Lawsuit Against Dr. Luke

Kesha's song, "Praying," is very powerful because it is the singer's first attempt at releasing a record without the help of Dr. Luke, the record producer who Kesha accused of emotional and physical abuse four years ago.

The lawsuit put Kesha's career on hold because she was signed under Dr. Luke's record label, Kemosabe, but she refused to work with the producer.

Kesha's Case Gets Dismissed

Two years after filing her lawsuit, a judge dismissed Kesha's complaints against Dr. Luke. New York Supreme Court Justice Shirley Kornreich said that the only two complaints she was able to prove were that Dr. Luke assaulted Kesha on a plane in 2005 and the producer raped the singer in his hotel room in 2008.

"Her claims of insults about her value as an artist, her looks, and her weight are insufficient to constitute extreme, outrageous conduct intolerable in civilized society," said Kornreich.

In April 2016, Kesha claimed that she was offered her freedom in exchange for a public apology and statement clarifying that Dr. Luke did not rape her. A rep for the producer denied Kesha's allegations and said that the singer has always been free to do whatever she wants to do.

"The only thing Kesha is not free to do is to continue to lie about Dr. Luke," said the representative.
