WATCH: Dua Lipa Performs 'New Rules,' 'Homesick' On 'Saturday Night Live'

Dua Lipa has officially made it. The young singer-songwriter joined the list of artists who have performed on Saturday Night Live.

The 22-year-old made her debut on the stage of the long-running comedy sketch show on Saturday, Feb. 3. She appeared on the episode hosted by Natalie Portman who has appeared on the show for the second time.

Saturday Night Live Debut

For her bit, Lipa performed "New Rules," a song that recently entered the top 10 of Billboard Hot 100. She followed it up with the slow ballad titled "Homesick." Both songs are included on her debut album released in 2017.

Appearing on the stage of Saturday Night Live on NBC is a huge opportunity for a newcomer. In the span of 43 seasons, the New York-based comedy series has seen performances from the most-celebrated artists in the music industry such as Paul McCartney, Prince, Patti Smith, The Rolling Stones, Tina Turner, and Queen.

This season's performers include Jay-Z, Sam Smith, P!nk, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Eminem, U2, SZA, Foo Fighters, Halsey, and Chris Stapleton. In the next episode, Migos will also perform for the first time on the show.

Despite Lipa's performance and Portman's now-viral rap, the episode on Saturday saw a decrease in rating. The show averaged a 4.6 rating from a live and the same-day household viewing in the metered market and 2.0 from adults 18-49 with local people meters. In comparison, the episode the week before hosted by Will Ferrell achieved 4.9 and 2.3 from the same categories.

However, Saturday Night Live is still the number 1 telecast of the night.

The New Face Of Pop

Lipa's first album is a commercial success. After its release, the album immediately climbed up the music charts and right now, it sits at the number 32 spot. In September, she topped Billboard's Artist chart.

Her album's lead single "New Rules" was also a huge hit, becoming the first song from the singer to reach the top 40 of Billboard's Hot 100. This week, the track entered the top 10. "IDGAF" also entered the charts at the 92nd spot.

In terms of critical acclaim, Lipa has also received nominations from the award show. This month, the singer will be attending the Brit Awards in London where she is currently nominated for Best Album category alongside Ed Sheeran, Stormzy, Rag 'N' Bone Man, and J Hus. She is the only female artist nominated in the major category.
