Officials in Brazil, regardless of what they say to the press, are somewhat regretting hosting the World Cup and The Olympics within a three-year span. The construction projects were/are massive and costly, resulting in much political upheaval from dissatisfied citizenry. The nation has added another huge event and this one won't be such a drain on the South American nation's budget: Tomorrowland. ID&T, the promoters of the huge international EDM event, made it official over the weekend that it would bring the festival to São Paulo during May of 2015.
Okay, so Tomorrowland isn't near the monumental event that the Olympics or the World Cup is, but this is still huge news for ID&T if no one else. The company had made it clear during February that it aimed to stage a gig on every continent, plus the rumors they were looking at São Paulo was the world's worst-kept secret this month. Brazilian entertainment site Omelete filed a report and a similar piece of news was relayed on the radio station Jovem Pan, stirring up excitement.
So, the details themselves: The festival will go down on the first three days of May next year, apparently in the Itu district of São Paulo. It's an appropriate location to host, as the neighborhood has dubbed itself "the capital of large things," and Tomorrowland is certainly not about being subdued. The original festival just celebrated its tenth anniversary in the town of Boom, Belgium and the stages were more grandiose than ever.
A website for the event was provided on the poster announcing the dates, but so far the site is still under construction. It's a little too early to expect a lineup, but those familiar with the Tomorrowland franchise can plan on it being huge.
