Troye Sivan reciting the lyrics of "Mystery of Love," a song by Sufjan Stevens, is a collaboration that the world needs.
In a video for Dazed, the 22-year-old transformed the critically acclaimed track into a moving spoken word poem.
For the uninitiated, "Mystery of Love" is a song from the soundtrack of the Academy Award-winning movie Call Me By Your Name. Stevens specifically wrote the track along with "Visions of Gideon" for the movie, which is an adaptation of a best-selling novel of the same title.
Success Of 'Mystery Of Love'
Stevens also received a nomination for Best Original Song and performed the track with St. Vincent at the awards ceremony held earlier this month.
Aside from critical acclaim, the song is also a massive commercial hit. Both "Mystery of Love" and "Visions of Gideon" entered the Billboard Hot Rock Songs earlier this year.
The vinyl pressing of the movie's original soundtrack, which includes three of Stevens' songs, has found its own sizeable fanbase. In February, Billboard reported that the soundtrack sold out the initial and second pressings almost instantly after it became available for preorders.
Troye Sivan As Elio
The video is not Sivan's first connection to Call Me By Your Name. In December, he said that he procrastinated and missed the chance to watch the movie in his local movie theater.
However, by February, he said that if he could play any part, he would like to be Elio.
"I think that it 100 percent was made for Timothée Chalamet, but I would have at least auditioned for Call Me By Your Name," he told Pop Crush. "That would've been fun to have a go at that."
He explained that he wanted the role because Elio is one of the few characters he actually relates to. The "My, My, My!" singer said that every single detail of the character, including Elio's physical appearance, resembles his own.
On Twitter, he revealed that he read the original novel written by Andre Aciman within six hours. He also told a follower that he would agree to play the role of Elio if ever the movie will be adapted into a musical.
Sivan already had his big screen debut way back in 2009. He appeared in Fox's X-Men Origins: Wolverine as young James, the man who will eventually become the Wolverine.
Later this year, he will also star alongside Lucas Hedges and Nicole Kidman in Boy Erased, a coming-of-age story about a young man who was forced to participate in a church-sponsored gay conversion program. The movie, directed by Joel Edgerton, will be released on Sept. 28.
