The National, Ted Danson, Zach Galifianakis: Actors Turn ‘Mistaken For Strangers’ Into Broadway Play For Funny or Die

Back in March, the younger brother of The National's frontman Matt Berninger, Tom, made the rock documentary Mistaken For Strangers, which told the story of what it's like being the younger brother of a rock star. The film received amazing reviews, and is now calling on the likes of Hollywood's own Ted Danson and Zach Galifianakis in order to craft it for Broadway ... sort of.

In the below video from Funny or Die, Danson and Galifianakis discuss the intricate process of turning the documentary into a play. And while it's all a bit for the comedy site, it does give us a glimpse into what it would be like if the two actors were to ever bring this project to the stage.

Given their chemistry on HBO's Bored to Death, it looks like the two were the perfect choice to parody the brothers' relationship.

Throughout the clip, both actors can be seen taking advice from their doppelgangers, with the "Hangover" star being told how to drape the microphone cable over the crowd – which it seems he didn't come up with himself – as Danson is being given lessons on how to walk over an audience using their heads for balance. "People are in them," he says, referring to the chairs. "I'm often using the crowd as stabalizers. Don't ever step on the actual chairs."

You can purchase the tour documentary Mistaken for Strangers on iTunes and on DVD.
