DJ Khaled recently shared his favorite moment with Demi Lovato. The music producer and the singer are currently on tour together.
During a recent interview, Khaled said that he was very proud of the singer when she said that she is six years sober.
"When we went on stage just to sing her happy birthday about her accomplishment, I told her I feel like she was chosen to go through what she went through and to teach the young world not to go through what she went through," said Khaled.
Last week, Lovato talked about her sobriety during her concert in New York. She said that getting sober was a struggle at first, but she decided to embrace it for her own sake. The singer also said that she wants to inspire more fans to follow in her footsteps.
Khaled also shared the same view with Lovato. He said that the most important thing in life is that people can get up and try again once they fail, and that's what Lovato did.
"I thought besides performing for a full arena with all our fans, I feel like that moment and that day and that night was something that's always going to be remembered forever and I feel like the world has embraced it. It was beautiful," said Khaled.
Demi Lovato's YouTube Documentary
Last year, Lovato also opened up about her struggles with alcohol, drugs, and food in the YouTube documentary Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated. The singer's struggles all started after she was bullied in high school by a group of girls that urged her to kill herself.
While in school, Lovato became friends with the popular girls that influenced her to try drugs and alcohol. At the age of 17, the singer tried cocaine. At that time, she was still working with Disney Channel.
"I was scared because my mom always told me that your heart could just burst if you do it. But I did it anyways, and I loved it the first time that I did it," admitted the singer.
Things got completely out of control for Lovato while touring with the Jonas Brothers and working on Camp Rock. While touring for Camp Rock 2, Lovato threw a party in a hotel room, and she drank Adderall.
One of the dancers told the heads that Lovato was on drugs, and she punched the dancer on the face. Following the incident, Lovato checked into rehab for the first time.
