Coachella Co-Owner Donates $1M To Elton John AIDS Foundation’s LGBT Fund

Coachella co-owner Philip Anschutz donated $1 million to Elton John's AIDS Foundation's LGBT Fund following a major controversy.

Last year, Anschutz was accused of donating funds to groups that are against the LGBTQ community. It was reported that he funded the Alliance Defending Freedom, the Family Research Council, and the National Christian Foundation. All three groups have been lobbying against LGBTQ rights.

However, Anschutz proved that he is not really against the LGBTQ. He released a statement alongside his generous donation.

"My gift to the Elton John Foundation is intended to emphasize that we support freedom of all people to live their lives peacefully, without interference from others. Sexuality is among the most personal of issues, and it has never been my intent to weigh in on people's private lives," said Anschutz.

He also said that he supports the everyone's rights, and he opposes discrimination and intolerance against the LGBTQ.

The co-owner of Coachella also said his foundation supports various causes, and this could be the reason why he supported the three other organizations. Anschutz added that he regrets if any money he donated was used for other purposes that may have directly worked against the values that his foundation has been trying to uphold.

As of writing, John has not released a statement regarding the $1 million donation.

Elton John Storms Off Stage In Las Vegas

Elton John recently made headlines after a video of him walking out on his fans went viral. At that time, the 71-year-old musician was in Las Vegas for his show and he asked a group of people from the audience to join him on stage.

While singing "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting," one of John's fans kept touching him. At first, he asked the fan to stop what he was doing, and he did. However, a few minutes later, he started bugging John again. At this point, the "Candle in the Wind" crooner shouted at the fan and stormed off stage.

A few minutes later, he returned to continue his performance. Before doing so, he told the audience that no one will be invited to join him on stage again for the rest of the night.

Some of John's songs are "Rocket Man," "I'm Still Standing," "Your Song," "Tiny Dancer," "Sacrifice," "Candle In the Wind," "Nikita," "Bennie & The Jets," and "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me."
