It may seem like it's been a long time since Hilary Duff was Lizzie McGuire on our TV screens and singing "So Yesterday" on the radio, but now she is back. Yesterday (July 23), Duff announced officially that she's signed a record deal and has a new single and album coming out in the following months.
According to E! News, Duff will be making her return to music on Tuesday, July 29, with the release of a new single "Chasing The Sun." Written by masterful songwriters Colbie Caillat, Jason Reeves and Toby Gad, Duff described the single as a "light and fun summer song that I hope helps people to feel a little more carefree."
"Chasing The Sun" is the lead single from Duff's forthcoming fifth studio album, and the 26-year-old "couldn't be more excited" to make her return to music with the single and her new label, RCA.
"I love my team there and feel so lucky to be in the company of their talented artists. I came to them with my vision for the album and it has been a real labor of love, but something I am so proud of," she said in a statement.
In addition to just announcing her new single, Duff also released the cover artwork for "Chasing The Sun," keeping things casual in a loose black top, her dark blonde hair all in waves.

Hilary Duff's new album, which has yet to receive a title, will be released this fall. It's the singer/actress' first return to music since the release of Dignity in March 2007, which featured the singles "Play With Fire," "With Love" and "Stranger."
