Kanye West is planning to write a philosophy book, the hip-hop superstar and fashion designer revealed in a recent interview.
Into The Matrix
In a conversation with collaborator Axel Vervoordt for The Hollywood Reporter, the 40-year-old discussed his planned project, Break The Simulation, which will explore the society's obsession with photographs.
"I've got this new concept that I've been diggin' into. I'm writing a philosophy book right now called Break the Simulation," West told Vervoordt. "I've got a concept about photographs, and I'm on the fence about photographs — about human beings being obsessed with photographs — because it takes you out of the now and transports you into the past or transports you into the future."
It would be interesting to read the rapper's take on people's obsession with taking photographs because of his connection with Kim Kardashian West. The mother of his children has built a following around her extravagant lifestyle, which she documents on social media sites such as Instagram.
Kardashian also published a coffee table book called Selfish, a collection of her selfies, back in 2015.
West further discussed his concept of time and the future, pointing out that the past and the future exist in the present, and how some people do not seem like they belong in the present.
"The future is here now, the past is here now," he adds. "There's certain people that you meet and you say, 'Oh, you're from the future.' You feel this in their spirit, people who are just staying in a time where the time doesn't celebrate who they are."
He recommends connecting with people who possess "timeless energy," citing his 2010 music video for "Runaway" as an example of putting the concept to use.
In the same interview, he also hailed his wife as this generation's Marie Antoinette, the last Queen of France before the French Revolution. He, then, compared himself to late physicist and author Stephen Hawking who, West said, "changed his ideas and his theories all the time."
Kanye West's New Album
West is also reportedly working on his next album, the follow-up to The Life of Pablo, which was released back in 2016. According to Pitchfork, the rapper might be recording with other hip-hop artists like Kid Cudi, Nas, and his sister-in-law's current boyfriend Travis Scott in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
Jackson Hole was also where West recorded his 2010 album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
No exact release date has been announced as of this writing.
