Since the release of her debut album earlier this month, chart-topping rapper Cardi B has been making a lot of television appearances.
This week, the 25-year-old was on The Ellen DeGeneres Show where she talked about her real name, her pregnancy, and her recent performance at the 2018 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
Twerking Mom
In the episode that aired on Thursday, April 19, DeGeneres showed a snippet from Cardi B's performance at the major music event last weekend. The rapper, whom many estimates might be around seven months pregnant, was a ball of energy onstage. She jumped, she twerked, and she moved as swiftly as the backup dancers behind her.
The "Bodak Yellow" rapper argued that moving around might help in delivering her baby. After all, this is her first pregnancy.
"It looks like you were getting ready to give birth right there," the daytime television host commented.
"Well, you know, they said the more you move, the easier it will come out," Cardi B, who is wearing an oversized hot pink suit, said.
She also made an unexpected comment about her dance moves at Coachella.
"I was just showing the world how I got pregnant in the first place," the hip-hop star declared.
As already mentioned, the fastest-rising rapper in the industry right now has been making a lot of television appearances. Earlier this month, she debuted on the stage of the long-running comedy show Saturday Night Live. Cardi B also co-hosted The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last week where she met John Mulaney and played some games.
Name Game
The Billboard Best New Artist nominee also shared to DeGeneres that her fiancé, Offset of Migos, has already picked a name. She refused to tell the public what her unborn baby's name is, however, Ellen has some ideas of her own.
"Susan," DeGeneres suggested.
It would not be a surprise if ever Cardi B and her boyfriend Offset will pick whatever suggestion the renowned comedian brings to the table. Aside from the fact that Offset is friends with DeGeneres, the Emmys awardee also has a history of naming celebrity babies. It also helps that DeGeneres offered $20,000 to call the baby "Ellen."
Year Of Cardi B
Cardi B has not been in the industry for a long time, but she is already making a name for herself. Her debut studio album, Invasion of Privacy, has not even been out for a month, but she has already broken a record.
Billboard reports that the 13-track LP holds the record for the largest streaming week for a debut album in history. Invasion of Privacy recorded 135,000 units (or 202 million streams) from streams across the United States in the past week alone.
The album has also earned a gold certificate from the Recording Industry Association of America in its first week.
Cardi B will be returning onstage for Week 2 of Coachella 2018 on Saturday, April 21.
