The top 10 contestants on American Idol are set to perform for America's vote next week. They have been named after four other contestants were sent home on Monday's episode.
Sunday's first live episode saw each of the 14 contestants singing one song. After their performances, judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan, praised them for their individualism and artistry.
However, the fans of American Idol were the ones that decided who makes it to the top 10, partially.
The Top 10
On Monday night, all 14 contestants once again took the stage to perform live for America. After everyone's performance, host Ryan Seacrest announced the first six contestants who have made it to this season's top 10.
Catie Turner, Maddie Poppe, Cade Foehner, Gabby Barrett, Caleb Lee Hutchinson and Michael J. Woodard all made it to the top 10. The other three contestants who are also part of the top 10 were revealed by Richie, Perry, and Bryan. Richie decided to save Jurnee while Perry and Bryan decided to save Michelle Sussett and Dennis Lorenzo respectively.
The four contestants who were eliminated include Marcio Donaldson, Mara Justine, Jonny Brenns, and Garrett Jacobs.
Ada Vox Gets Saved By The Judges
Ada Vox also made headlines after Monday's episode as it was revealed that America did not vote to keep him on the show. The judges asked him to perform again and they saved him almost instantaneously.
"When the Ada moment came, it wasn't just one person's idea. We all looked at each other and we saw the math... excuse us, we're going to step in now. Were we allowed to do that? We found out we were," explained Perry.
Richie also opened up about their decision to save Vox. He said that they did not feel the need to wait for America to give their verdict because they knew Vox deserved to be part of American Idol.
"Enough was enough and you put your foot down when it's real. We stand for truth and justice," said Perry.
Vox has auditioned for American Idol ever since he was 16 years old. At the time, he still went by his real name Adam Sanders. Years ago, Vox managed to make it to top 50, but his success was short-lived.
During a recent interview with People, Vox said that he is more confident now, and that is why he thinks he can win the entire thing.
