J. Cole Announces Dreamville Music Festival: What We Know So Far

J. Cole announces the upcoming Dreamville Music Festival, his own music festival in North Carolina. The event will be held at Dorothea Dix Park in Raleigh on Sept. 15.

Notably, the musician's hometown of Fayetteville is just an hour away from the festival's venue.

The Dreamville Music Festival Announced

J. Cole partnered with Dreamville Records and ScoreMore Shows to give music fans the opportunity to hear their favorite artists perform without having to leave the state.

Following the announcement, Ibrahim Hamad, J. Cole's manager and the president of Dreamville Records, released a statement.

"We've been trying to put this festival together for a few years now. It's just hard to come into a city and get the whole city to approve it and get behind you. So it was great that we took our time... and really connected with the city and connected to the mayor," said Hamad.

The Dreamville Music Festival will benefit the non-profit organization Dreamville Foundation. Tickets for the event are priced between $59 and $99. No performers have been announced so far, but Hamad said that musicians from different genres of music will be invited to perform.

"It's going to be a variety of different acts that we love or excite us. It's something we want to build for years and years to come," said Hamad.

J. Cole Releases 'KOD'

J. Cole has been making headlines recently after releasing his album KOD. The musician also dropped the music video for "Kevin's Hart." KOD became an instant hit, and predictions suggest that the album might earn the third-biggest streaming week in history.

According to multiple publications, KOD may rake in 320 million streams in the week ending April 26. The only other album that could surpass J. Cole's KOD is Kendrick Lamar's project Damn. Lamar's compilation earned 340.6 million streams in the week ending on April 20.

The songs featured in KOD are "Intro," "KOD," "Photograph," "The Cut Off," "ATM," "Motives," "Kevin's Hart," "BRACKETS," "Once An Addict," "FRIENDS," "Window Pain," and "1985."

'Kevin's Hart' Music Video

Days later, J. Cole released the music video for "Kevin's Hart," which featured the funnyman. The clip is all about Hart's cheating scandal last year. At the time, Hart admitted to cheating on his wife Eniko Parrish. She decided to forgive her husband.

"Kevin's Hart" was directed by J. Cole himself and Scott Lazer. The latter said that music video was intended to be a serious yet funny clip because Hart is in it.
