Following the release of a sci-fi music video, Ariana Grande aims for an intimate experience with a Spotify exclusive for "No Tears Left To Cry."
It has only been a week since the 24-year-old returned to the music scene after months of absence with the new track, which is the lead single for her next album.
A few days ago, she also appeared on The Tonight Show to talk about her anticipated comeback. She announced her album is titled Sweetener and its potential release date is on July 20.
New Vertical Video
The Spotify exclusive is a vertical music video filmed like the singer used a smartphone front camera. Taylor Swift was first to offer a similar experience to subscribers of the online music streaming platform. Much like Swift's video for "Delicate," Grande's vertical video for "No Tears Left To Cry" feels more intimate and raw.
Except, of course, it is upside down.
It seems that the theme for "Sweetener" is all about turning the world upside down. The former Disney star first started teasing the new track on her Twitter and Instagram accounts with messages that were written using letters that were upended.
The official music video for "No Tears Left To Cry" saw Grande navigating the world from the ceiling.
Next Phase
Not much is known yet about her upcoming album, but the "Dangerous Woman" singer divulged to Jimmy Fallon that the title is about bringing light back to a life full of darkness.
To recall, a terrorist detonated a bomb at the venue of Grande's concert in Machester last year. It killed a number of the singer's young fans and more were injured.
For a while, Grande herself was traumatized by the experience and depressed for losing some of her beloved supporters.
According to TMZ, Grande worked with two producers, namely Max Martin and Pharrell Williams. Williams confirmed the good news on Twitter on Thursday, May 3.
Moreover, the young performer revealed some of the tracks that will be included in Sweetener. Some of the track titles are "God Is A Woman," "Blame" feat. Pharrell," and "R.E.M."
In addition, she announced that she will be performing at the upcoming Billboard Music Awards where she is also nominated for Top Social Artist. She will battle BTS, Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato, and Shawn Mendes for the award.
The BBMAs will take place on Sunday, May 20, and will be broadcast live by NBC.
