Despite several sources confirming the rumors, Sanaa Lathan continues to deny that she was the mystery actress who bit Beyoncé's face at a party.
What Happened
In March, comedian Tiffany Hadish riled up the internet when she revealed in an interview that an unnamed celebrity had the gall to hurt the Grammy-winning singer at a party for Jay-Z in December. She refused to point fingers, but the internet was on a witch hunt to determine and punish this mystery face-biter.
Several actresses who were present at the event have issued statements to deny that they were the woman in Hadish's story, including Lathan who added that if she were to bite the Grammy Award-winner, it would be construed as a "love bite."
Neither Hadish nor Queen Bey has spoken further about the story, but several sources have confirmed that Lathan was the perpetrator.
However, the Family Guy star is not budging: she did not bite Beyoncé despite what the reports say.
"[I]t blew up. And I think it's the most absurd thing I've ever been involved with," she told Health.com. "Thank God I've been in this business for 20 years and have had so many rumors about me."
She shared that being involved in scandals and receiving hate from critics used to bring her self-esteem down, but not anymore. Her extensive experience in the entertainment business has given her the right tools to combat these crazy rumors and the amount of online hate she would receive from the BeyHive.
"I adore Beyoncé," she stated. "I would never do anything malicious like that — to her, or to anyone. It's so bizarre."
The actress has recently joined the cast of A24's big screen adaptation of Richard Wright's Native Son. The movie will also star Margaret Qualley, Ashton Sanders, Bill Camp, and Nick Robinson.
She will play the role of Trudy Thomas, a widow who is willing to do anything to provide and raise her three children in their small apartment in Chicago. Suzan-Lori Parks will pen the script while Rashid Jones has signed up to direct.
Beyoncé Skips Met Gala 2018
Meanwhile, Queen Bey made headlines this week for skipping the 2018 Met Gala on Monday, May 7. The BeyHive made her non-appearance a trending topic by making it a meme.
To some, Beyoncé dressed up as the Holy Ghost in the Catholic-themed cultural event.
According to reports, the "Crazy In Love" singer skipped the annual party because she was on a holiday with husband, Jay-Z.
"JAY-Z surprised her with a trip because he felt she needed to relax before her tour," a source told ET.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z's On The Run II Tour will kickoff on June 20 in Amsterdam.
