It has been a crazy couple of hours for fans of Nicki Minaj. The "Chun-Li" rapper admitted then denied that she is dating Eminem.
Nicki Minaj Confirms Romance With Eminem
The insane rumors began with the 35-year-old's new guest feature on YG's "Big Bank" where she referenced the alleged relationship with the 2018 Coachella headliner. She previewed the new track, which also features 2 Chainz and Big Sean, on a video on Instagram by lip-syncing to her verse.
"Told 'em I met Slim Shady/ Bag the M/ Once he got black, he'll be back again," she rapped.
Unsurprisingly, this got the rumor mills going, and fans questioned whether the line was a confession of an ongoing romance with Eminem. One follower dared to ask the rapper point-blank if she is, indeed, dating Slim Shady.
Minaj answered with a simple, "yes." This made the fandom freak out. Many were delighted to hear that the two rap legends have found love. Others, however, were not convinced.
A few have other, more important, questions in mind.
Some hardcore Nicki Minaj fans have pointed out that the possibility of a romance between Eminem and the "Anaconda" rapper should not come as a surprise. The two have had a bit of flirtation over the years. In 2013, for his song, "Fast Lane," Eminem rapped about wanting to have sex with the female lyricist.
This year, in "Barbie Tingz," Minaj said in a verse that she "just bagged a white guy." Reports that Minaj has ended her relationship with Nas earlier this year fueled these rumors.
Nicki Minaj Denies Dating Eminem
Some fans were suspicious when Eminem jumped into the conversation and commented. "girl you know it's true..." he said. Minaj responded by saying that they were supposed to keep it a secret until their wedding and that she will see him when she gets home. Shortly after the news of the alleged romance broke out, a representative spoke to TMZ to clarify Minaj's relationship status. The truth is she is not dating Eminem and was trolling inquisitive fans.
Nicki Minaj Pushes Back 'Queen' Release Date
In related news, the Grammy-nominated artist revealed on a post on Instagram that she will release Queen, her follow-up to The Pinkprint, on Aug. 10. At the 2018 Met earlier this month, Minaj said that the album is scheduled to drop this June but, for undisclosed reasons, the female rapper had to delay the release of her anticipated new music. She also posted a short clip of an interview with the late Princess Diana.
