Another major performer at the ceremony is The Voice coach Kelly Clarkson, who will perform a new version of "American Woman." The song, originally performed by The Guess Who, is the theme of an upcoming series on the Paramount Network.
CMT also taps Florida Georgia Line to perform "Simple," a track from their still-untitled upcoming fourth album
Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Phillip Sweet, and Jimi Westbrook, known as the Little Big Town, will debut their next hit, "Summer Fever." They will also host the event on Wednesday night.
"With seven world premiere performances, it certainly is a record for us," states Margaret Comeaux, executive producer. "It is super exciting. So many of them are first-listen smash hits."
Sam Hunt, Blake Shelton, Chris Stapleton, Kelsea Ballerini, and more will brighten up the stage with their own live performances.
CMT Week 2018
Similar to last year, CMT expanded the celebration of music and turned into a four-day festival. This year's events began on Sunday, June 3, with several events related to music food, fitness, and pets. Cassadee Pope (formerly of Hey Monday) kicked off the CMT Summer of Music Festival with a live performance.
"Last year, we evolved the CMT Music Awards from a one-night-only-TV event into a multi-day festival spread across the city," says Frank Tanki of CMT. "It was a huge success with fans and advertiser partners alike, allowing everyone involved to experience CMT is an entirely new and powerful way."
The four-day event culminates with the 2018 CMT Music Awards. The awards show will air live from Nashville on the CMT channel at 8 p.m. on Wednesday. Replays begin on the same channel at 10:55 p.m.
The broadcast will also be available to fans via the official mobile app of CMT for Android, Apple, or the CMT website.
